FRIDAY 31st MAY, 13:30-16:30
UK GAMES EXPO, THE NEC, BIRMINGHAM
The Game Design Masterclass is heading to the UK’s biggest tabletop games event for the first time, in a special session sponsored by Carta Mundi and UK Games Expo itself. Join a crew of enthusiastic novices for an intense three-hour crash course in how games work, how to make them, and how to make them work better. As with a regular Masterclass, you’ll design and build your own game, playtest two others, and leave with a completed prototype and a team to work on it with you.
After the event there’ll be a meetup for graduates of the Masterclass to get together, show off their designs, compare notes and discuss the ins and outs of game creation.
Thanks to our sponsors, tickets for this UKGE Masterclass are at a discount price of £15, though you will also have to pay to attend the Expo itself. Click here for more info and to buy.
THURSDAY 27th JUNE, 18:00-21:00
DUSTON COMMUNITY CENTRE, NORTHAMPTON
The Masterclass is coming to Northampton for the first time, on the evening of 27th June. It’ll be a three-hour lecture and workshop led by James Wallis, at Duston Community Centre, on the outskirts of Northampton itself. Click here for more information and tickets.
SUNDAY 14TH JULY, 12:00-15:00
DRAUGHTS WATERLOO, LEAKE ST, LONDON
This is our fifth Masterclass at Draughts, and our second in their spacious Waterloo premises, and they’re always huge fun. Kids are welcome at this afternoon workshop, a short walk from Waterloo station and the Thames. James Wallis will be running this session again. More information and tickets here.

THURS 29TH AUGUST, 14:00-16:00 (families)
THE LUDOQUIST, CROYDON
We’re back at the Ludoquist for two more Masterclasses: a Sunday evening for grown-ups, and a shorter mid-afternoon class for families (children must be accompanied by an adult, adults must be accompanied by a child). Games cafe sessions are a big hit: you can eat and drink while you design and playtest, and you can stay afterwards and play more games. Ludoquist is easy to get to from East Croydon and West Croydon stations. Tickets will go on line soon.
