The next Game Design Masterclasses will be:

The Game Design Masterclass is a crash course in the theory and practice of creating exciting boardgames and card games, led by professional game-makers with decades of experience.

Over three high-energy hours you’ll discover how games function, why people play them, and what makes a good one, then you’ll work in small teams to concept, design, build, playtest and refine a complete game that you can take home with you at the end of the session. There’s also a shorter family-friendly version, with less talking but just as much game-making and playing.

We run events for all kinds of people and organisations: games stores and cafes, games conventions, universities and colleges, video-game companies, media agencies, charities and NGOs. The Masterclass can be tweaked to teach about the principles of game design, team building and project management, Agile methodology, interaction design, building for engagement, or just for fun. We also run whole-day training events.

You don’t have to be a games expert to come: attendees range from complete novices to published designers, as well as people interested in understanding how games work and how they can use game ideas in other areas of work. Masterclass graduates also get access to reading lists, vendor links, expert advice, and an online community of fellow designers.

We can bring the Masterclass to your games store, cafe, university, business, charity, organisation, event or club. You’ll find more information here.
